What is a parent forum?
A parent forum is a group of parents who aim to meet once every term to discuss school related issues. It provides a valuable way to listen to your ideas and concerns and seek your views, helping to make sure the needs of our children and families are met.
Parent Forum is not a decision making body although the forum has the opportunity to decisions through an open dialogue with stakeholders. It seeks the views of parents to develop a stronger partnership, by improving understanding through communication.
Examples of the types of issues which might be discussed:
* development of school grounds
* cost of school trips and events
* parent evenings.
What are the aims of the forum?
To support the school, education and welfare of our children and staff, give and elicit feedback, express concerns and share good practice.
Engage in structured dialogue with stakeholders by providing the opportunity for the parent voice to be heard.
Create a friendly and welcoming atmosphere for the school community by acting as a contact for new families and ensuring a presence at events.
Who are the parent forum members?
ALL parents are welcome to contribute to the parent forum. Ideally we would like to have at least one parent representing each class; this would help to ensure a range of views across children’s classes and year groups
In order to fulfil the role you should ideally:
Have the time to attend a one hour, mid-week, termly meeting
Act as a Class Representative by asking the views of parents of the class you represent and giving feedback to them about the issues discussed.
Be open minded and approachable. Sharing ideas for improvements using the forum email address.
You would hold the role of representative for one school year with new reps each September in future years. This is a real opportunity for parents to support the school and have a role in its continued development in providing an excellent education for our children.
How will parents contact the parent forum?
In the playground, face to face with their class parent forum representative .If you would like a parent representative to raise an issue or make a suggestion on your behalf at a meeting, please ask them to do so or you can email your suggestion.

If your matter can be dealt with by a straightforward response it will be. Otherwise it will be added to the agenda for discussion during the next parent forum meeting.
Please note that the parent forum is set up to deal with generic short-term and longer term issues.
Any issues that are child or family specific must be directed to the appropriate member of school staff.
Any parent with a concern about their child should always talk to their child’s class teacher.
How will information be fed back?
Following discussion at a parent forum meeting your point(s) will be discussed with school leaders. We aim to raise issues in a generic way without reference to identities. Dates, agendas, minutes of meetings and any actions taken will be made available on the school website.
